In Her Own Words...
This
Norwegian design student at IT-akademiet has a great web cam &
journal site that really stands out with its creative design and
strong personality.
How did she get started?
"The journal thing
started when I was about 15. I got online
and saw all these people
with web pages and I decided I wanted a place of my own as well.
I don't really know WHY I started keeping a journal, but I've always
loved to write, so it more or less came naturally. I put the cam
up for shits and giggles some years after. I just saw it as a way
of communicating with friends online."
Is she rebelious or
an exhibitionist ?
"To me, I'm not
a rebel at all. I'm not the outgoing type. I have the time of my
life designing websites and watching TV with my boyfriend. I like
being alone and have very few friends. Doesn't exactly sound like
the stereotype rebel to me. =)"
"To
be honest I hate being looked at. It makes me paranoid. So I'd say
no to that one. It's different with a webcam though. It's just me
and the cam, so it's alright. But I'd go nuts if it was on all day
every day."
"I can't think of
anything I've done on cam that I'd consider rebellious. I don't
do anything on cam that I wouldn't do in real life. I'm the same
person on the net as I am in the real world, and people who act
tough and cool online and are cowards in real life...I laugh at
those. It's dumb to hide behind a computer like that. People will
find out about it anyway. I still don't think being on cam is a
social thing, I just have it on whenever I'm bored and don't mind
being looked at. It's not a big thing to me."
Does the Web cam activity
interfere with relationships and other activities?
"When
you are a "cam girl" you feel like you have to be on cam every day
or so. It gets annoying, but it doesn't interfere with my life in
any way."
"Why did she
say that she plans to take a break from the internet?
The people. Some people
on the internet think they are gods and that they can do whatever
they feel like doing just because this is the internet and not the
real world. They forget about common sense and what is legal and
illegal. Quite frankly, they couldn't care less. And I don't like
people who have no respect for others, and sometimes it seems like
the only way to escape from them is to escape from the internet."
